RBT 40-Hour Training
The BACB-required 40-hour training for Registered Behavior Technician candidates — fully self-paced and built around doing, not watching. Interactive lessons, branching clinical scenarios, and module checks that prove mastery before you move on.
An active course — not videos of people talking
Most 40-hour trainings are long recordings you sit through. This one is built around interaction: you make decisions, answer questions, and get feedback on every error.
33 interactive branching scenarios
Make clinical decisions and see the consequences. Errors get feedback at the end, and you can retry until you get it right.
Knowledge checks in every lesson
Short quizzes inside each lesson keep you retrieving and applying — not just reading.
Module checks that unlock the course
Each module ends with a 20-question cumulative check. Score 80% to move forward; it only covers what you've already learned.
A full-client capstone
Finish by walking through a complete client day in branching form, touching all 19 RBT competency-assessment tasks.
Videos as supplements, not the course
Embedded videos support key lessons — the learning happens in the interactions, not in watching people talk.
A visible time tracker
A timer on every course page shows your verified hours and how much is left to reach 40, so you can pace yourself.

Capstone client scenario and certificate requirements
How you earn the certificate
The certificate is earned, not given. Your progress is verified at every step so your completion stands up to BACB review.
Minimum 40 verified hours
An active timer verifies your engaged time. Certificates require at least 40 hours — no skipping ahead.
5-day minimum, 180-day window
Training must span at least 5 days and be completed within 180 days of starting, per BACB rules.
Every lesson at 80% or higher
All lessons, quizzes, module checks, and the capstone must be passed at 80%+ before a certificate is issued.
Certificate with trainer details
Your completion certificate includes the responsible trainer's name, credential, and certification number, as the BACB requires.
This training program is based on the RBT Task List (3rd Edition) and is designed to meet the 40-hour training requirement for RBT certification. BehaviorPREP is an independent training provider and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Completing this training is one step toward certification; candidates must also complete a competency assessment and pass the RBT exam.
